My Experience, My Passion

When I was 22 years old, I was playing a round of golf at City Park Golf Course in Denver with a very nice lady. We got to the 15th green, where there is a serious slope left to right. Before I went to putt, she mentioned that I putt very well, then asked  me “Which way is the slope of grass toward the hole?” I was playing with one of the old “ping” putters and I replied that it was going left. She asked if I could putt it on the toe of the putter. I did as she suggested, and the ball went into the hole. We then went to the back side of the hole. She told me to putt the ball on the back side of the putter, because the slope of the green was going to the right. I putted as she suggested and the ball went in! She then said “You just read your first green.” She was an LPGA Pro and had just taught me the “toe and heel” method used by many female players. 

For the next 42 years I have used this method and I now have the capacity to teach anyone – even children how to “read grass” and putt like a pro! I enjoy showing people how to beat the course, not necessarily the people they are playing against. I can teach players to hit 18 to 24 in one round of golf, 24 being the worst a trainee would shoot. 

Check out my video of a teaching session where we invited children from 3 to 13. I taught them to successfully use this method. They followed my training and sunk the ball time after time.
